Balancing freedom of the press with the rights of the public

Client

The Independent Press Standards Organisation

Brief

Reflect IPSO’s authority and expertise, whilst making this year’s annual report accessible and interesting.

Approach

IPSO strikes a balance between maintaining freedom of the press and holding newspapers to account. It upholds the highest standards of journalism as well as protecting the rights of the public.

The annual report is read by industry CEO’s, other regulatory bodies, and of course, the government. It has to deliver instant impact, but also high levels of clarity and compliance.

As such, the design balances relatable imagery with a clean and clear typography, explaining IPSO’s brand values as well as telling an interesting story.

Outcome

For the first time, IPSO have an annual report that reflects the professionalism of their organisation. Board member Mike Soutar said: ‘It looks terrific and the craft oozes from every page. I know the resources you were working with, which makes it an even greater achievement.’
